September 2005

My busy summer schedule seems to have continued right into the fall!

I did the Alberta Centennial Review show, which involved some great over-the-top acting by yours truly. I played two characters from Calgary's past and basically MC'd the event with another actor.

Speaking of over-the-top acting, I also did a murder mystery with Pegasus Performances, in which I played a nerdy accountant who followed his dream of becoming a cross-dresser. Some very serious theatre acting obviously going on there!

We had our first public shows with Laughing Matters, the comedy troupe I'm in. It was all improv shows at a local bar downtown. I had a lot fun goofing around with the rest of the group, most of which I've known for a while from my Jubilations days.

Rehearsals started for the High School Reunion Dinner Theatre Show that I'm playing the nerd in (yes, again with a nerd character). I'm also the choreographer and putting together a photo montage video that will play at the start of the show.

Rehearsals also began for the touring school plays that I'm involved in. One is for elementary schools and I'm playing the... you guessed it - nerd character (should I be taking hint?). The other one is for junior and senior high and I'm stage managing it and doing sound for it.

I started teaching my weekly Movie Acting class through Centre Stage Theatre Company. We're doing a 50's style movie in black and white. I also started taking a weekly tap dance class as well, for fun and to keep up my tap skills.

Brothers TV debuted on OUTtv and I had a little premiere party at Money Pennies. The show almost didn't air due to some technical problems, but luckily they were worked out in time.

I was an Extra on the movie September Dawn, which is something I don't usually do anymore, but I wanted to get used to being on a set again since I was about to do my role in The Ron Clark Story with Matthew Perry! That was a pretty amazing day. I had my own little trailer room equiped with a TV, stereo, and bathroom! I got fed great food throughout the day and was chauferred back and forth from the set to my trailer. I got to meet and act along side of Matthew Perry, which was of course very cool. They ended up chaning my role just a couple days prior to the shoot. I became the manager of the restaurant instead of just a waiter, but was reduced to one line instead of two. I was there for about 10 hours, just for that! And then at the end of it all, the producer came over and told me that she was very happy with how I did my part, but they'd probably be cutting out my scene in the end. That was pretty disappointing, but I still was thrilled to have had the experience. The producer and director were both really nice.

And other than that there was the usual Medical Skills gigs and videography/editing stuff, so definately a very, very busy month!
