March 2003

The Caillou show has ended and now I've been hired to do Tanglewood's next Western Canadian tour which is "Little Bear". I was originally supposed to play the Little Bear character, but due to my height I've changed to being the Flower and Mother Bear characters. (It's full body costume so you can't tell if it's a boy or girl inside). As the Flower, I actually play 3 different flowers and I do a little ballet number at one point. The Mother Bear costume is absolutely huge! It's so big that when Little Bear is next to me he actually looks little, and he's over 6 feet tall!

I'm also going to be in a stage version (with some twists) of "Reservoir Dogs". I play Mr. Pinky. It's going to be on for one night only at The Palace Nightclub. There's a lot of profanity and violence. It's fun to rehearse for a kids show during the day and then rehearse for an adult show at night -- Two VERY different concepts! All proceeds from this show are going to The Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.

And I've also been hired to perform in another one-nighter, again at The Palace Nightclub, in April. The show is called "Sweet Harmony" and it's a musical review with songs from the 60's and 70's. I'm a go-go dancer in this one and there's some choreographed pieces as well as some where I get to freestyle. It's sure to be a groovy time! Proceeds from this show will be going to The Calgary Food Bank.

Because of these three paying gigs I've been able to quit my day job which is really nice.

The Little Bear tour has started with a 2 week run, most of which takes place in BC. It will just be weekends after that until the beginning of May.

I'm the Flowers!
That's me in the flowers costume!

I've had to back out of the Sweet Harmony show that I was going to dance in because on the same night I have to do Little Bear in Kamloops.

I've also been offered a position with Oh Canada, Eh? for the summer in Canmore so I'll be doing that right after the Little Bear tour. It looks like I'll only be doing a couple shows a week so I'll just commute from Calgary.
