January 2005

As I mentioned in a previous update, I'm the understudy for Josue Martinez in Canadian Disco Idol at Jubilations Dinner Theatre. Well, Josue is going to be away on January 26th, so I'm going to be in the show that night! I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be playing all of the male singing contestants. I have to learn all the songs, lines, and dance choreography just for the one night, but it's going to be a ton of fun. I have a bunch of friends and family coming so I'm excited to perform for them.

I got hired to be the voice of a character in a japanamation/anime cartoon series with Chinook Animation. I'll be in two or three episodes. It's not a huge character, but I'm enjoying doing the recordings and it's cool to have my voice in a cartoon!

We finally got ratings for Brothers TV from Nielson. We are really happy with the results. My contact at Access told me that our numbers are roughly the same as Late Night with Conan O'Brien! Pretty good for a little independent show done by just the two of us. Not to mention that we're on before and after an informercial and at 1:30am! We have a brand new web site now too. We put on a new video clip every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so be sure to check it out often! The more people who come to the site (and the more often), the more we can sell the web site advertising for (and when you're there please click on one of the ads on the site because that creates revenue for our us).

As understudy at Jubilations I went on for one night and ended up having 20 friends and family come to see me! It was a really great show and even though I was a bit worried about remember all of my lines, the songs, and the dance numbers, everything went really well. The tech guy tried to make an audio copy of the show, but he said it may not have worked. If it did, I'll be sure to put up some clips in the audio/video section.

In addition to teaching my regular Monday night classes (acting on film for teens), I also substitute taught three other acting classes for Centre Stage Theatre Company. They also hired me to choreograph two dance numbers for a couple different classes. It's been a lot of fun working with kids... and sometimes a challenge too! I taught kids as young as two years old... but they weren't as much of a handful as some of the 6 year olds!

I've been working quite a bit lately for the Medical Skills Center as a standardized patient as well. The other day I got to be an impotent, abusive, drunk. That was fun and certainly not the usual type of role that I'd get!

And then of course there's my TV series Brothers TV which continues to take up most of my time. I got a break from the editing end of things because our computer edit suite broke down for almost two weeks. That really set us behind and now we're working harder than ever to catch up. Oh well, sleep is overrated anyway.
