I recently got back from attending Playlist LIVE, an annual YouTube convention that takes place in Orlando, Florida. I went last year as well (its inaugural year) and had a great time, but didn’t take any video because I was just focused on networking and meeting as many of the top YouTubers in attendance as I could (although I did take some photos).
This year however, I was given an mCAMLITE from ALM so that I could shoot some great video on the go with my iPhone 4s, so I reached out to my YouTube audience and asked them to give me suggestions. They had some pretty wacky ideas, but I went along with them and to my surprise, I was able to get quite a few big YouTube personalities to be in my video…
The first day of the event was more like a conference, with panels of famous online video content creators speaking about their experience and advice for getting more subscribers, viewers, and revenue from YouTube. The next two days were filled with performances by all kinds of well known musicians, comedians, and entertainers from the YouTube community. I attended most of the panels on the first day, but instead of watching the performances on the following days, I used that time to find the YouTubers in my video to ask/say/do the things that were suggested by my viewers, and to network with as many fellow YouTube Partners as I could.
It was a fantastic experience and I’m really looking forward to going to LA at the end of June for VidCon, which is an even bigger YouTube conference/convention. That will be the 3rd VidCon and I’ve been to both of the previous ones as well. It’s just a great way to be able to mix and mingle with the YouTube “elite” and learn as much as possible about this amazing and growing opportunity/resource/career that is YouTube Marketing!
