Who’s going to Blogworld? Take me in your suitcase!

written by JoshRimer.com on September 21st, 2010

October is just around the corner and that means… so is Halloween!  I really love that holiday.  It’s so much fun to dress up and party with friends in silly costumes.  And candy!  Who can forget the candy. ;-)

Another cool event happening in October is Blogworld.  It’s apparently like the ultimate house party for bloggers and new media personalities, online entrepreneurs, internet marketers, etc.  Plus you get to learn a thing or two as well, but seriously – it’s at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, so you just know that there’s probably more fun going on there than education.  Although the two can totally go hand in hand.  But I have to say that from all the conventions and conferences I’ve gone to, it’s the galas, parties, and dinners that have mattered the most, because that’s where the relationships get made.

I’ve never been to Blogworld, but I’ve been hearing about it a lot lately – which I suppose makes sense now that I’m hanging out with more and more bloggers and internet professionals.  It’s attended by top industry players, and both traditional and new media heavyweights. The event focuses on the role of new media and discussions and lectures on writing trends as well as on what‘s making waves in the entertainment and arts industry. Online trade magazine and sports writers, actors, and film critics are even invited to do talks during the event too. Apparently anything and anyone involved in the blogosphere!

Like the VidCon I attended last July, I’m sure Blogworld is a great chance to make friends with like minded people, expand your audience, improve your internet marketing skills, and learn all kinds of new stuff to do with blogging.  You also typically get to hang out with the “celebrities” of the blogosphere, which was one of the best parts about VidCon – I got to meet people like Michael Buckley, Phillip Defranco, Tay Zonday, and a bunch more who I had watched for years on YouTube. Getting to meet and talk with these people helped inspire me to pull up my socks and do more YouTube videos and blogging.

I really want to go to BlogWorld 2010 and some people I know are going too, but the cost of it all (registration, flight ticket, accommodations, etc.) is holding me back. :-(   Let’s face it – you can’t do everything!  But luckily Bonnie and Marilyn from Duet Media will be taking notes, and have even offered to share what they learn at my Internet Marketing Meetup in November, so it’ll be great to hear what they learned and decide if I should make it a priority or not next year!

What do you think? Are you going to Blogworld?  Have you been before?  Do you have another conference to recommend?
